Who?
Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) — new Ranking Member, House Oversight Committee; outgoing Ranking Member, Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets*
*now that House Democrats tapped Garcia to be Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee, he tells Ask a Pol UAPs — “I can’t do both” — he’s still looking for someone to replace him as the top Democrat on the Secrets Task Force.
ICYMI — Garcia’s moving on up the leadership ladder…
LISTEN: Laslo & Garcia
Ask a Pol asked:
After GOP leaders blocked your attempt to include the UAPDA — UAP Disclosure Act — in last year’s National Defense Authorization Act, any plan to try to add it to this year’s NDAA?
Key Garcia:
”We're having some — I mean, look, I'll be a little bit more blunt,” Rep. Robert Garcia exclusively tells Ask a Pol UAPs. “We're not sensing a ton of, as much interest in the UAP topic from the Republican leadership as there was, and so I think we're still having some conversations with our internal folks about how we're going to move forward.”
Yeah?
“But my interest level on the topic is not diminished at all,” Garcia says.
ICYMI — Garcia introduced the UAPDA in 2024
Caught our ear (& made him squirm…):
Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) haven't said whether they're going to reintroduce their UAPDA, you dropped it last year — any plan to insert it into the NDAA debate again this year?
“I haven’t heard, no,” Garcia tells us. “I have no idea what they’re doing.”
Wait — was that just an election year ploy last year?
Laslo laughs, Garcia blushes and his aide’s face lights up.
“No, no, no!” Garcia says.
Below find a rough transcript of Ask a Pol’s exclusive interview with Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), slightly edited for clarity.
TRANSCRIPT: Rep. Robert Garcia (7-17-2025)
SCENE: During a vote on the House floor, a hurried Rep. Robert Garcia waves Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo away as he has a quick meeting with one of his senior staffers. Laslo gives him space — possibly quipping about how Garcia’s always too busy to talk to Ask a Pol now that he’s the top Dem on Oversight… — but waits in the wings.
Once they’re done huddling, the congressman darts to the door of the Democratic Cloakroom — which connects to the House floor — but Laslo slides in, prepared for a rapid fire UAP round…
Matt Laslo: “Do you have any plans — you introduced UAPDA last year, right?”
Robert Garcia: “U-A what part?”
ML: “The UAPDA to the NDAA.”
RG: “Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah — I din’t hear you say the last part.”
ML: “Any plan to offer that this year on the NDAA?”
RG: “Yeah, I mean, we’re — we're having some, I mean, look, I'll be a little bit more blunt. I think that like, we're not sensing a ton of, as much interest in the UAP topic from the Republican leadership as there was, and so I think we're still having some conversations with our internal folks about how we're going to move forward.”
ML: “Yeah?”
RG: “But my interest level on the topic is not like diminished at all.”
ML: “Yeah?”
RG: “And so, I think that's a discussion that we're having.”
ML: “Have you even talked to [Secrets Task Force Chair] Luna about it? It seems like she's been focused on JFK, Epstein — everything else.”
RG: “Yeah. I think she’s aware that I'm still very much interested in the UAP topic, so...”
ML: “Yeah?”
Ask a Pol’s NOTHING without our amazing subscribers — join the partay today!
RG: “And it's certainly something that, if we were in the majoirty, I'm very interested in, so I think there's a lot of work to still do there.”
ML: “And [Sen. Mike] Rounds (R-SD) and [Senate Minority Leader Chuck] Schumer (D-NY) haven't said that they're going to introduce their UAPDA…”
RG: “I haven’t heard, no.”
ML: “…do you think inserting that into the debate…”
RG: “I have no idea what they’re doing.”
ML: “Wait — was that just an election year ploy last year?”
Laslo laughs, Garcia blushes and his aide’s face lights up.
RG: “No, no, no! I just — (unintelligible*).”
*UNCONFIRMED: After slowing the audio down (and replaying it 150 times…), we hear: 'let the committee look at it.’ If you hear something different, please ping us ASAP!
RG: “I gotta get out to the votes.”
ML: “Do your thing — you got a day job.”
Garcia enters Democratic Cloakroom.
ML: “Good to see ya.”
Laslo makes eye contact with Garcia’s aide.
ML: “Have a good one now.”

We are stooges being played for suckers. Disclosure will not come from Congress nor the White House. Only a patriot (whistleblower) with stage 4 cancer, no dependents, unimpeachable evidence and an "eat sh_t" attitude can move the ball now.
NSFW — Apologies in advance, but it increasingly seems like the best shot we’ve got at Disclosure is to let Diddy outta jail to co-host/headline a weekslong Washington freak off. Then Napalm us — and then come back in a few months and the Capital’s yours!*
*Again, apologies — this is how the press corps survives having sick fucks as our subjects
Man, I continue to be befuddled as to the level of interest in an assassination that took place over 60 years ago rather than something that would literally be world changing 🤦🏻♂️
Why do you hate America!? 🇺🇸 *
*we’re both gonna get fuckin shot now…
😂
Well shit. I’m already out here urging Tim Phillips to lawyer up and sue for wrongful termination so….😂😂
That one caught my fucking eye. Tulsi?*
*remind me to put in an interview request for Luna 🎙️ and Tulsi 🎙️ session… 🧐
I should tag you on X with this exchange I am having with someone on X with ARRO in his handle (which might not mean shit, of course) to see what you can find out. What he’s saying goes against everything I know, but that’s limited to California and I can only speculate how different it is in DC.
Many believe it is the same ball of yarn.
Congress should consider getting a cat.. 🐈
They may be right. And don’t get me wrong. The Kennedy stuff is fascinating and distressing to be sure. But it just seems to be a losing sight of the forest for the trees type of situation.
Who did Garcia mean? Which GOP leaders are less interested? Or was that just a total dodge?
Garcia is one of the few Dems on the UAP Caucus; he asked some very important questions at Grusch’s HoC hearing https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SNgoul4vyDM&t=2635s&pp=2AHjDJACAQ%3D%3D
Yes, I remember that. I just find his statement here somewhat puzzling. Is he referring to Comer? Certainly Johnson was never really interested. Turner was dead set against it, but he’s gone.
Right? Planing to follow up on that.
from my perspective, Luna — whether subpoena-power-less or bypassing her senior Burchett and being anointed Chair — is leadership. Like, the whole spectrum — when she’s empowered and active, that’s a ‘gift’ from ‘GOP Leadership’ (by that I mean Speaker and Comer…and possibly 👋 Mike Turner, but as Burlison alluded to in last nights post, he’s pretty convinced the game changer for this years NDAA will be Turners absence; well powerlessness, really. Not as convinced as he is — but he’s in the mix and the ONLY positive difference from 118th to 119th Congress is Turner’s absence.
It’s tangible. Like, Himes did a 180 and actually admitted HPSCI does do UAPs. There are other examples, but it seriously feels lighter (which means they’re likely pumping noxious gas into our press
Galleries again… 😉)
All the noxious gaslighting from Wright-Pat? 🤣🛸 Good to have you on the case, Professor! Watch out for those low-flying Tic-Tacs…
I’ve sensed that a bit - Grusch’s public hearing kicked off an insane interest. But we’ve lost some momentum. While I’m less skeptical of his claims these days, I think Jake Barber’s initial interview release was a huge blunder and hurt our own community’s support. NN botched the editing.
We need another bombshell to come out, and I’m not sure another whistleblower with claims but no evidence will cut it. Either, a fucking former defense secretary or president just needs to come out and say it, or they need to wheel out a craft.
With all this said, I can’t appreciate Rep Burlison enough for hiring Grusch and continuing to be focused on this subject and doing everything he can to move the narrative forward. Luna’s focus seems to be split with the other disclosure Taskforce narratives; I hope she pivots back to solely focusing on this topic because I think it’s far more important than the other ones. I hope Schumer and Rounds keep this topic in mind. It does feel like we’ve lost Gillibrand and Rubio, Rubio I think was far more likely to actually get shit done.
This shit is not easy, and we need to keep fighting. I can’t thank Professor Laslo enough for continuing this fight, even though he’s probably losing some money doing this. Matt, you are integral to all that has happened in the last two years regarding this subject. If I had the funds. I would hire you full time to bug the shit out of every politician on this subject. Please keep the fight going, because we literally can not do this without you.
If the UAP Disclosure Fund and their cohorts (Sheehan, Nolan, Coulthart, etc.) were serious about making a difference on the Hill they would organize a crowd fund for Ask_A_Pol.
