SCENE: On a steamy Washington summer day, Rep. Eric Burlison ushers Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo into a House Office Building — bypassing security, even as the interview then takes place next to a Capitol Police security station.

Eric Burlison: “Do what?”
ML: “Do you know about a White House briefing on non-human inteligence?”
EB: “I couldn’t comment — I don’t know.”
ML: “Yeah? How are your talks with [Sen. Mike] Rounds going? Are you guys thinking of offering UAPDA as an amendment? Or is it all going to be kind of closed-door again?”*
*Interview took place before Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer dropped their UAPDA amendment earlier this week.

EB: “You know, it’s not just him, but like most senators, it’s really hard to get face time with a senator…”
ML: “Yeah.”
EB: “…so I just work through his staff.”
ML: “Yeah?”
EB: “I’ve had my staff reach out to his staff.”
ML: “And are those talks — like, does it look like you guys are going to offer UAPDA as an amendment to NDAA [National Defense Authorization Act]?”
