Ask a Pol asks:

You’re the second most senior Democrat on the HPSCI — House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence — and you’ve never used interrogatories in your 18 years on Capitol Hill?

Key Carson:

“No I haven’t,” Rep. André Carson exclusively tells Ask a Pol. “I haven’t dealt with that word since English, man.”

Do you think it matters? Like, between an interrogatory and a subpoena — subpoena’s more powerful?

“It sounds like it,” Carson says. “I have to leave it up to the attorneys, legally.”

Below find a rough transcript of Ask a Pol’s exclusive interview with Rep. André Carson (D-IN), slightly edited for clarity.

TRANSCRIPT: Rep. André Carson (9-15-2025)

Scene: Rep. Andre Carson just parked outside the House Carriage Entrance (where horses and buggies once dropped lawmakers off) when Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo catches him for this interview before he heads inside the Capitol to vote.

Matt Laslo: “Look at this, young man.”

André Carson: “Hey homie.”

What should we ask Congress next? Let us know!

ML: “What do you know about interrogatories?”

Carson laughs.

AC: “Oh, wow — I haven’t heard that in years.”

ML: “Right?”

AC: “Yeah. In which context are we in?”

ML: “The UAP Caucus — cause they don’t have subpoena power…”

AC: “Sure.”

ML: “…they’re planning to use interrogatories. I guess they sent them to two agencies and two private companies.”

ICYMI — Ask a Pol UAP interrogatory scoop

AC: “Mhm.”

ML: “But they’re doing that to kind of smoke out what they might know. Why is — I’ve never heard of that in my 19 years here.”

AC: “I don’t know. I’m not on the Caucus. And when I wanted to do the hearing everybody called me crazy. Now everyone’s on it.”

ML: “But what. Interrogatories, like, have you — you’ve never used those in your 19 years here?”

AC: “No I haven’t.”

Laslo corrects himself.

ML: “No? In my 19 years here...”

AC: “Yeah. I haven’t dealt with that word since English, man.”

ML: “Do you think it matters, that between a subpoena? Subpoena’s more powerful?”

AC: “It sounds like it. I have to leave it up to the attorneys, legally.”

ML: “Yeah, yeah. Preciate ya.”

Carson enters Capitol, Laslo looks for more lawmakers to chase…
