Who?
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) — Oversight and Armed Services Committees
LISTEN: Laslo & Mace
Ask a Pol asks Mace:
Do you buy what the Trump White House is claiming, that the FAA knew and approved all the ‘drones’ flying over New Jersey?
Key Mace:
“Trump said that? Yes, I believe him,” Mace exclusively tells Ask a Pol. “He came out and said he would disclose it, and then he did.”
What should we ask Congress next? Let us know!
Caught our ear:
“We can always probe the people in the Biden administration,” Mace tells us. “Why the obfuscation? Why do that? We had drones over bases in South Carolina during that time, and why all the confusion? Why the danger? Why alarm people?”
Below find a rough transcript of Ask a Pol’s exclusive interview with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), slightly edited for clarity.
TRANSCRIPT: Rep. Nancy Mace (4-8-2025)
SCENE: Before Congress left Washington for their two week Easter vacation, Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo caught up with Rep. Nancy Mace as she was making her way to a vote via an underground tunnel connecting House Office Buildings to the US Capitol.

*where we’re sometimes dropping news these days as we beta test it…
Nancy Mace: “Okay, what you got? UAPs? What?”
Matt Laslo: “Yeah, let’s do UAPs. Do you buy what the White House said about the FAA knowing all the stuff over Jersey?”
NM: “I missed that statement. What did they say when?”
ICYMI: Even New Jersey Republicans telling different story…
ML: “It was the start of the administration when they said the FAA knew stuff over Jersey, over a munitions depot, over the president’s golf course...”
NM: “Trump said that? Yes, I believe him.”

ML: “Why? Like…”
NM: “Because I trust Donald Trump.”
ML: “Well, it came from his — the White House podium, not necessarily him, but for you it’s just settled?”
NM: “Well, he disclosed — he said he would disclose what happened and he did.”
ML: “So you think that's like case closed?”
NM: “For now, yeah. I mean, he came out and said he would disclose it, and then he did, you know, so…”
ML: “So where do you think the investigation needs to go next? Where do you think it's over?”
NM: “Well, I think we can always probe the people in the Biden administration. You know why the obfuscation? Why do that? We had drones over bases in South Carolina during that time, and why all the confusion? Why the danger? Why alarm people? Why put fear of people into the system like that? Doesn’t make sense to me.”
ML: “So are your local officials now — no more problems?”
NM: “I haven't heard any since.”
ML: “Yeah? Interesting.”
NM: “Yeah. They were over bases in South Carolina too.”
ML: “Because, like, the Jersey delegation had a briefing from Secretary Mayorkas and others back in December...”
NM: “Yeah.”
ML: “…and even Homeland Security Committee here had DHS, FBI and DOJ in and they were just — they testified under oath they had no idea what this stuff was flying overhead. So that’s where they’re all dubious the FAA approved or…”
They pass an elevator but head to a back stairwell.
NM: “I’m going upstairs.”
ML: “….that they even knew what this stuff was.”
NM: “Yeah, I can't speak to that. I didn't get briefed, so I can't speak to that.”
ML: “Yeah? I didn't get briefed either.”
Mace laughs.
ML: “Good to see you ma’am.”
NM: “Good to see you too.”
