“It was conversations with [Rep. Anna Paulina] Luna, so this was something that she and I discussed,” House Oversight Chair James Comer exclusively tells Ask a Pol. “I think it’s a worthy try.”

“Well, I mean, I don’t know. I mean, I’m curious about that,” Comer says. “I don’t know anything. But, you know, I don’t know anything about it, so…”

SCENE: After the presser announcing the new Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo initially scores an exclusive interview with Rep. Anna Paulina Luna as she walks back to her office via the Capitol’s underground tunnels.

Matt Laslo: “Look at this young man!”
James Comer: “Hey there!”
ML: “How are you?”
JC: “Good.”
ML: “Hey — what…”

ML: “…this new Task Force, that’s a lot on their plate…?”
JC: “Yeah, it is. Luna has a good relationship with the White House, so hopefully we’ll have a good chain there of information that we’ll be able to provide everyone.”
ML: “Because I know…”
JC: “A lot of curiosity in all those, all those things.”
ML: “Yeah, right? Well, I know they were asking just for a UAP Select Committee…”

JC: “Yup.”
ML: “…was it your guys’ idea to broaden it?”
JC: “So basically, this is pretty much that and then some other stuff. So I think it will be — I think it will be the most interesting deal, you know.”
ML: “Yeah?”
JC: “And Luna’s a good person to — she’s got a good relationship with the White House. She has a passion for the UAP stuff and a lot of the other — secrets. That’s the way I would classify them, they’re secrets that the American people care about. They wanna know who’s on the Epstein list. They wanna know about, you know, what all was involved with Epstein, does the government know? Were they blackmailing people? There’s just so many questions…”
ML: “Yeah?”
JC: “…that people have. And it all revolves around a distrust of the government. If you ever gonna build, regain, trust in the government, you have to be transparent, and that’s what the goal of the Task Force is, to get transparency for the federal government.”
ML: “Did the idea to broaden it beyond UAPs come from you all? From the Speaker’s Office?”
JC: “It was, it was uh, conversations with Luna, so…”
ML: “Yeah?”
JC: “This was something that she and I discussed. I think it’s a worthy try.”
ML: “And now, it seems like there’s some nervousness, though, letting some folks run wild on the UAP topic?”
JC: “Well, I mean, I don’t know. I mean, I’m curious about that — I don’t know anything. But you know I don’t know anything about it, so.”
ML: “Yeah? Me neither.”
JC: “Right — well, you keep up with it more than I do.”
ML: “They don’t let me know anything fun, though.”
JC: “Yeah.”
ML: “And, like, have you guys been communicating with the White House? Do you think, beyond…?”
JC: “She’s communicating with the White House on that stuff, not me.”
ML: “But a lot of it comes down to them and how much they’re gonna be willing to…”
JC: “Right, right, right.”
ML: “Yeah? But it — the feeling is, it’s kinda a new day?”
JC: “I think he wants to be — I think he wants the American people to know the truth, Trump, he said that.”
ML: “Yeah?”
JC: “And this Task Force will, hopefully, be focused solely on that.”
Elevator for Comer and his aides arrives.
JC: “Because you got all these other committees focused on budget reconciliation, focused on oversight, focused on crypto currency — this Task Force just focused on that with a bunch of the presidents’ friends. I think it will be good.”
ML: “I mean, I’ve been curious about the Trump pictures with Epstein…”
Laslo’s laughing as Comer and co. start to enter elevator.
JC: ”Alright. Yeah. I know.”
Comer’s nervously laughing.
JC: ”I don’t know if we’ll go there.”
ML: “…just as I’m curious about the Clinton ones with Epstein!”
Elevator door’s closing…
ML: “Have a good one!”
Comer laughs.
