Headline-grabbing Rep. Jasmine Crockett listed as new Ranking Member of Secrets Task Force
Ask a Pol can't find any announcement — we just screengrabbed the Oversight Committee's homepage
Who?
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) — Two-term US Congresswoman; public defender; civil rights attorney

“We have a very interesting figure that is currently in the White House, and I think I'm uniquely suited to kind of be the opposition to him.”
— Crockett told Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo in June
Background:
After the unexpected death of former Oversight Committee Ranking Member Gerry Connolly (D-VA) earlier this Congress, the two-term Congresswoman lost her long shot bid to replace the nine-term veteran of Capitol Hill.
While we can’t find an announcement, according to the Oversight Committee’s Secrets Task Force homepage, Crockett’s now listed as the top Democrat on the panel derided for being thirsty, unserious and conspiratorially-tinged.

Sen. Mike Rounds on House Secrets Task Force:
“I haven't paid much attention to what they're doing over there.”

Trading places:
Crockett lost her race to be Oversight Ranking Member to Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) who she now seems to be replacing as the top Democrat on the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets.

Now this is curious:
Crockett’s ascension to the top Dem slot on Secrets seems to have opened up another Democratic seat on the panel, which is either not filled yet or not going to be filled.

Who knew?
Congresswoman Crockett “is licensed to practice law in Texas, Arkansas and Federal Courts,” according to the biography on her official congressional site.
