Who?
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) — Member, Senate Intelligence Committee
LISTEN: Laslo & Cornyn
Ask a Pol asks:
Are you satisfied with what you’ve been told by the Trump administration about this week’s El Paso airport fiasco — with the FAA initially shuttering it for 10 days, before reopening it mere hours later — and reports the Pentagon deployed new anti-”drone”laser technology?
Key Cornyn:
“Laser beams? Okay. What about em?” Sen. John Cornyn exclusively tells Ask a Pol UAP. “I’d like to get more information, but, basically, it sounds like there was counter-drone activity, and FAA didn’t feel like they had enough information about that, so they shut things down.”
*well, about to be crushing it…with a follow from you!
Caught our ear:
Do you know if the Pentagon’s lasers melt “drones” or do they incapacitate their tech?
“I think that’s classified,” Cornyn tells us.
Below find a rough transcript of Ask a Pol’s exclusive interview with Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), slightly edited for clarity.
Let us know what to ask Congress next!
TRANSCRIPT: Sen. John Cornyn
SCENE: Dozens of reporters are staking out Senate Majority Leader John Thune’s office on the 2nd floor of the Capitol where (failed…) negotiations to avert another partial government shutdown were heating up.
So Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo ditched the congressional herd and staked out a deserted US Capitol basement where he bumped into Sen. John Cornyn and an aide before they hopped a Senators Only elevator up to the Senate floor.

Matt Laslo: “What do you…?”
John Cornyn: “Where is everybody?”
ML: “What do you know about this laser beam?”
JC: “Is there a meeting, you know…?”
ML: “I think there’s a…”
JC: “…that everybody went to…?”
ML: “There’s a stakeout outside of Thune’s office.”
JC: “…. except for you.”
Cornyn smirks.
JC: “Oh, okay.”
ML: “Hey — when they zig, I zag.”
JC: “Laser beams? Okay. What about em?”
ML: “What — did you get a briefing? Are you satisfied with what you heard happened in El Paso?”
JC: “I want — I’d like to get more information, but, basically, it sounds like there was counter-drone activity.”
ML: “Yeah?”
JC: “And FAA didn’t feel like they had enough information about that, so they shut things down.”
ML: “Yeah?”
JC: “But I’m glad they reopened pretty quickly.”
Their elevator arrives.
Every bit helps!

ML: “Were you aware — have you seen these lasers at the Texas bases?”
JC: “I’ve seen some of the technology that are used to counter drones, but, you know, a lot of it’s being used in places like Ukraine and elsewhere.”
ML: “Yeah?”
JC: “But drones coming across the border from the cartels are an increasing problem.”
ML: “Yeah?”
JC: “And not only in terms of shipping drugs, but also a danger to our border patrol and other agents.”
ML: “Do you know — do the lasers melt it or do they incapacitate its tech?”
JC: “I think that’s classified.”
ML: “Probably.”
Cornyn enters elevator.
ML: “Why I’m asking. Have a good one!”
